British Made Hand Knotted Green and White Rug
This deep pile luxury rug is hand crafted in Britain. It is made on a hand loom using the same traditional technique that has been used for centuries to make Oriental carpets. For more detail of how this rug was made, please click on the link
rug making.
The pile length is 15 mm and there are 14,400 individually hand tied knots in this rug. The yarn used is quality carpet yarn, a blend of 80% wool and 20% nylon. This ensures the soft and springy feel of wool with the added resilience of nylon.
This creamy white rug has a petal motif in eau de nil green. This small unique design rug will look good as a bedroom rug.

This rug has been produce by hand in Wales.

This picture shows the rug while on the hand loom during the weaving process. It takes several days to make a rug in this manner. This is a much slower process than using a tufting gun. The advantage of this hand knotted rug is that the knots are very secure so there is no need to use adhesive or a latex backing on the rug. This wool rug has no chemical odour, it shrugs off dirt and is easy to clean. For advice on cleaning see the
FAQ page.
The picture on the right shows the yarn in position for tying a knot. The knot is made by passing the yarn around one linen warp thread from front to back then clockwise around the next linen warp thread from back to front. The thread is then pulled tight and the knot pressed into position. The knots are held in place by two rows of plain weave using fine woollen yarn.
