Celtic Knot Rug - Hand Knotted Beige and Brown Rug
This deep pile shaggy rug is a handknotted rug made in Britain using the same method that is used to make Oriental carpets and Scandinavian rya rugs.  See the rug making page for more detail.
The knots are each tied by hand onto the warp stretched on the loom.  There are more than 7,300 individually hand tied knots in this rug.

This is different from a tufted rug made using a tufting gun (see the notes on the FAQ page which explains the difference).

This rug is very soft to the touch, thick and luxurious, as well as having a unique design based on the Celtic art endless knot.

The pile is 2.4 cm (approx. 1 inch) long and the rows of knots are close together so that the pile stands up, making this a very thick pile rug.  The traditional Celtic knot pattern is chocolate brown outlined in dark brown on a beige background.  This a striking rug which looks good and has a luxury feel.  This is a small, thick and heavy rug.
